Explore Your Environment

No matter where you live you can be certain there are places right under your nose that you have never seen.  Fall is the perfect time to get out and see what you have missed. Look around with new eyes. Is there a park in your town you have not been to, a college campus you have not explored, a lake or river you pass everyday but have never stopped to enjoy.  If so take a peek, you may be surprised how relaxing and uplifting it can be to see and learn about what is right in front of you.  Not only is it a great way to take in the beautiful weather but you will be walking your way to a healthier you both physically and mentally.  Let me know what you will explore.  Happy Trails!

Energize Before Exercise

We have all heard it a million times, food is energy, and it is so true.  That is why you should not exercise on an empty stomach.  Snacks as opposed to large meals are best. Try peanut butter on crackers, fruit, yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, or a small turkey sandwich with a tall glass of water or natural fruit juice 30 minutes before you exercise.  You will find your energy level will be much higher and you will experience less muscle soreness and tiredness after the session as well. Be well!

2011 A Fresh New Year - Find Your Passion

While I love Zumba as a fitness tool I have met people that say it is just too much for them.  My response: find what you love and commit to it. Maybe it is walking, yoga, dancing around your house, what ever makes you happy and keeps you active is the place to begin. If you don't know what your passion is yet then it is time to explore.  Take a karate class, try your hand at volleyball, check out ballroom dancing.  There are a million options for fitness at all levels. My challenge to you is to make 2011 the year you find YOUR passion.
